The blockchain consortium of the telecom operators Carrier Blockchain Study Group (CBSG); Turkey's leading digital operator Turkcell, as well as Southeast Asian Nations Association and serving in South Asia Axiata Group Berhad (Axiata), the Philippines serving PLDT, Inc., PT, serving in Indonesia Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Wire) Viettel Group in Vietnam and Zain Group in Kuwait have announced their decision to work together to explore ways to build a blockchain platform and ecosystem for the next generation global operators.
The world's fastest expanding and sector-leading Telekom Blockchain consortium CBSG; US-based Blockchain technology company TBCASoft, Inc. and Japan-based SoftBank Corp. was founded in September 2017 to lead the joint development of an innovative Blockchain platform specially designed for telecom operators with US-based Sprint Corporation and Taiwan-based Far EasTone Telecommunications Co., Ltd. (FarEasTone) as the first founding members. Other members of the consortium are LG Uplus Corp, KT Corporation and Etisalat Telecommunication Corporation based in the United Arab Emirates. CBSG intends to provide secure global digital payment, clearing and settlement systems, personal authentication, IOT applications and other services that use Blockchain technology to telecom operator members and their clients.
The consortium will also provide an additional Blockchain working group to focus on global money transfer services will be created. Blockchain technology, which is well suited for such transactions, facilitates processes so that customers can be better served. Offered by the CBSG Consortium, especially designed for telecom operators, this Blockchain platform and solutions will help operators build services beyond traditional markets and move those services beyond their boundaries.
