So when Nintendo announced they were going to be selling Smash Bros Ultimate Gamecube controllers, I immediately navigated to Amazon.com and sought it out, praying the price wasn’t outrageous. Thirty bucks! I smashed that 1-click-buy button faster than OJ Simpson’s white Bronco.
It came in the mail today and felt great in my hands. Yes, it is made with cheaper materials than the OG Gamecube controllers, and yes, it has a matte finish (which I really enjoy nonetheless), but it performs as you’d expect a brand new Nintendo Gamecube controller to perform—flawlessly! I’ve been on this controller since Melee was released in 2001, and let me tell you, go with the Nintendo GC controllers, there are no rivals.
It’s not your Xbox One Elite, or your Dualshock 4—it’s an OG Gamecube controller, fresh from a Chinese factory and so ready to get some Smash on!
