Sony and developer CD Projekt have jointly announced the return of the action role-playing game “Cyberpunk 2077” to the Playstation Store. The title flew off the platform in December 2020 because of its disastrous technical condition – now it should be fundamentally playable.
In short messages, Sony and CD Projekt write that work on the console versions of “Cyberpunk 2077” will continue. In the developer blog it says: “We may still experience some performance issues playing the PS4 version while we work on making the game more stable across all platforms.”
Both companies recommend installing the action role-playing game on the Playstation 4 Pro or Playstation 5. The hardware of the normal PS4 has to struggle the hardest with the high requirements of “Cyberpunk 2077”, which after the release led to a drop in the frame rate to well below 20 fps with a simultaneously low 720p resolution.
PS5 upgrade in the second half of the year
“Cyberpunk 2077” runs best on the PS5 even without a comprehensive next-gen patch. The latter is to follow in the second half of 2021 and “take full advantage of the improved hardware of the new consoles”. This should include the ray tracing units in the shader cores, which are sufficient for a shallow use of pretty ray tracing graphic effects.
Sony writes on Twitterthat fixes and updates for the PS4 version of “Cyberpunk 2077” will appear in parallel. in the Playstation Store the title currently costs 50 euros. Anyone who buys the disk version, for example via Amazon, pays 35 euros – including the promise of an upgrade to the PS5 version.
