The Disney + app is now available on Sky-Q devices for German and Austrian Sky customers. Sky announced this on Thursday. With the integration, Sky wants to further expand its “Sky Q” offer “as a leading all-in-one platform”.
The app provides access to the content of Disney + with the brands Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and the new film and series world “Star”. From the summer, Disney + content will be integrated into the Sky-Q search, according to Sky.
According to Sky, customers who have a Sky Ticket TV Stick will also be able to easily access the Disney + app in a few weeks. However, it has to be noted that the stick offers a maximum of HD resolution and 5.1 sound, while Disney + content is available with up to 4K resolution with increased contrast (High Dynamic Range, HDR) and (English) Dolby Atmos sound .
Christian Hindennach, Chief Commercial Officer at Sky Deutschland, emphasizes in the announcement that thanks to the integration of Disney +, switching back and forth is no longer necessary to watch “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” on Sky Cinema or the top game in the Bundesliga watch an episode of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” directly. For everyone who streams their Sky program via the Sky Ticket TV Stick, access to Disney + will now be “easier than ever”.
According to an unconfirmed DWDL report, the fact that the integration of Disney + at Sky will only take place around a year after the start of the service is due to the marketing partnership concluded at the time between the Disney Group and Deutsche Telekom.
