Electric car e.Go Life: production is delayed

From the electric small car e.Go Life can not currently be delivered as many copies as hoped. If the Aachen-based company initially wanted to put all pre-ordered e-cars on the road by the end of the year, it could possibly only be 600. Guilty are problems with the battery, Günther Schuh, CEO of e.GO Mobile AG, is quoted in a TV report.

Tests have shown that the battery is not sufficiently watertight, reports the WDR, Currently be improved. The remaining 3300 pre-orders will be served by April 2020.

The first production vehicles of e.Go Life were delivered this year in May. Schuh says that next year up to 10,000 cars will be produced in Aachen, after which it could be 20,000 per year.

The compact, four-seater e.Go Life is intended as a second car or fleet vehicle. First, it is equipped with a high-voltage electric motor with 60 kW and a 21.5 kWh battery. For the end of 2019, variants with 40 and 20 kW and correspondingly smaller batteries were planned. This should enable gross sales prices for the basic versions including batteries from € 19,900 (Life 60) to € 15,900 (Life 20) without environmental bonus. The range of the models should be from 135 km upwards. In February this year, e.Go Mobile also presented a sports version of its flitzer.

Since May 9, the electric compact car is built in series.
