Tesla has production figures for the second quarter of 2020 announced: The automaker delivered 90,650 vehicles worldwide. How Electrek reported that most of the analysts’ estimates were between 60,000 and 70,000 deliveries. This would have corresponded to the percentage decrease that took place in the rest of the auto industry. For example, Audi reported a drop in deliveries of more than 30 percent.
Around 82,000 vehicles were built in Tesla’s factories in the second quarter of 2020.
Deliveries decreased by only 5 percent year-on-year and even increased slightly compared to the first quarter of 2020. The stock market responded by telling Tesla stock 7.6 percent higher on Thursday at $ 1,204.
A total of 6,326 vehicles of the S and X models were built and 10,600 were delivered. 75,946 of the models 3 and Y were built and 80,050 were delivered.
After some back and forth, Tesla had to close its electric car factory in the US state of California, and the Gigafactory is also closed after the Panasonic employees move out. However, the Shanghai plant was reopened. Later Tesla was allowed to reopen in the United States.
Fast restart at the expense of quality?
However, the reopening was not without glitches. Model Y buyers discovered significant quality problems. Complaints are piling up on relevant websites. Examples of customers show unfixed back seats, damage to the upholstery and loose seat belts. Also not properly closing tailgates, scratched taillights, incorrectly installed outer panels, inferior painting work and incorrectly fixed floor panels were criticized.
