From interface chaos to an orderly IT landscape – eCommerce Magazin

“While the customer benefits from smooth shopping across various sales channels, the complex e-commerce processes present retailers with major challenges. Comparable to an iceberg, the majority of which is below the surface of the water, the IT with its diverse backend processes also remains hidden from the customer, ”explains Martin Öztürk, Sales Consultant at Roqqio.

In order for the customer to still have a smooth shopping experience, there is one powerful interface Requirement. APIs are not only used to integrate systems, but also provide central functions for other systems such as online shops or apps. They enable the central data view and the provision of functions – without having to introduce them for each device.

The demands on IT infrastructure are high

As the number of sales channels increases, merchants inevitably need to expand their mail order storage options. Multiple systems are often used, such as ERP and financial accounting, Stocks, payment methods as well as shipping and returns systems. The IT infrastructure is growing and the requirements are high: the best quality of service, continuously updated stocks (to prevent over-selling), the quick connection of new marketplaces, optimal customer communication, the selection of the most suitable shipping warehouse and the processing of orders in different data formats.

“The iceberg is getting bigger and bigger under the water surface. A solution like the Roqqio Commerce Cloud decouples the existing systems from the online world, homogenizes all data formats and functions like just a single integration. No matter which and how many online channels are used. ”

Martin Öztürk, Sales Consultant at Roqqio

Existing IT can slow down e-commerce processes

Compared to start-ups, larger companies in particular have a burdensome IT infrastructure on their shoulders. The old IT with its many interfaces is complex, can no longer master both organizational and structural challenges satisfactorily and slows down fast-moving e-commerce. The Roqqio Commerce Cloud makes e-commerce independent of the existing IT systems act and thus simplify the technical infrastructure according to the motto “best of breed” without having to replace it.

In this way, all processes of different systems can interlink optimally and smoothly and be mapped uniformly. All data including all relevant transaction data are synchronized and ERP, CRM, logistics or financial accounting systems are connected. Special third-party systems, for example for personalization, automatic text generation, PIM or logistics systems, can also be easily integrated.

Middelware simplifies e-commerce processes

With the Roqqio solution as middleware, a previous interface chaos becomes an optimally organized system landscape. Merchants can keep up with the speed of constantly changing e-commerce, the business becomes scalable and the possibilities of an online pure player are open. Because every order, regardless of the touchpoint, is harmonized with regard to its data format and passed on to the downstream systems. All functions and information are provided centrally – so the same return options can be offered, for example, via the online shop, the app or the checkout. New channels, such as marketplaces, can also be quickly connected on request.

The Roqqio Commerce Cloud also shows enormous potential in terms of logistics. The system uses a routing algorithm to select the optimal warehouse for each individual shipment. The selection is based on data such as the capacity utilization of a warehouse, inventory, proximity to the end customer or the cheapest shipping option. If necessary, the order is split and several warehouses are used. “This not only brings a speed advantage – it also reduces overselling and dissatisfied customers to a minimum,” says Martin Öztürk.

Roqqio offers software solutions and concepts for the implementation of the customer journey in omnichannel retail. The portfolio includes systems for goods control, POS and (self) checkout as well as the enterprise SaaS application Roqqio Commerce Cloud. With this, different sales channels can be managed and complex back-end processes, including order management, payment or logistics, can be controlled. (sg)
