In 2018, the largest market share was held by headsets for consoles – which in the end should have been almost exclusively the Playstation VR. In 2018, around 1.8 million devices were sold in this category, compared to only 0.8 million devices in 2019.

Standalone headset sales grew tremendously: from 1.6 million to 2.8 million in 2019. According to Superdata, the Oculus Quest is primarily responsible for this growth.
