Harry Potter, Final Fantasy, God of War: Sony showed these games at the PS5 event

In an online livestream, Sony showed several game trailers for titles that will be released for the upcoming Playstation 5. Among them were several well-known innovations: Fans of “Final Fantasy” are looking forward to Part 16, and Warner is also working on a Harry Potter role-playing game called “Hogwarts Legacy”. In a short trailer, Sony has also announced “God of War: Ragnarök”, a direct successor to the action cracker from 2018.

An overview of the most important game trailers that Sony showed at the PS5 event:

“Hogwarts Legacy

The open-world role-playing game in the Harry Potter universe is being developed by Avalanche, the makers of the “Just Cause” games. It takes place in the 1800s, well before the events in the books. Players create their own character and explore Hogwarts and the surrounding area. In addition to PS5, “Hogwarts Legacy” will also be available for PS4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One and PC – the release date is not yet known.

“Final Fantasy XVI”

The 16th Final Fantasy part will not be available for Xbox consoles: it will only appear on PS5 and PC. In a four-minute trailer, developer Square Enix shows extensive excerpts from the story, which features many characters known from its predecessors. Square Enix has not yet announced the release date.

“Spider-Man: Miles Morales”

Sony had already announced the successor to “Marvel’s Spider-Man” – as one of the few exclusive launch titles for the Playstation 5. Now Sony has also shown gameplay for the first time. It is very reminiscent of its enormously successful predecessor. Sony has also announced that Spider-Man: Miles Morales will also be available for the Playstation 4.

“Resident Evil 8”

Also not new: “Resident Evil 8: Village”, which was presented in June. In the new trailer, Sony shows the game graphics and suggests some story elements. “RE8” will be released in 2021 – next to the PS5 also for Xbox consoles and the PC.

“Deathloop

Arkane Studios are working on an idiosyncratic time travel shooter: players have to turn off various targets before the time runs out – and they obviously have to start all over again. The borrowings from the successful “Dishonored” games can be seen clearly in “Deathloop” despite the new setting.

“Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach

The successor to the cult horror game “Five Nights at Freddy’s” is released for the Playstation 5. “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach” is released for the Playstation 5 and the PC, but the developers have not yet announced the release date.

“Demon’s Souls”

A remake of the action role-playing game “Demon’s Souls” is in the works for the Playstation 5. The remake of “Demon’s Souls” is not being developed by the original developer From Software, but by Bluepoint Games. The Sony-owned studio specializes in Playstation remasters like “Shadow of the Colossus”. Now Sony has shown gameplay for the first time.

“God of War: Ragnarok”

For the livestream conclusion, Sony has saved the biggest announcement of the evening: Sony Santa Monica is working on a new part of the “God of War” series, which is apparently linked to the part that appeared in 2018. At least that can be deduced from the voice of Kratos, who is talking to his son Atreus in the background. There isn’t really much to see in the short teaser trailer. “God of War: Ragnarök” will be released in 2021 as a PS5 exclusive.
