Positive news from the economy was rather the exception in the 2020 pandemic. Few companies survived the crisis without damage. The Lüdenscheid-based pkwNOW with its B2B auction platform of the same name for used vehicles is on the other hand in the fast lane: In July and August 2020 pkwNOW had the most successful months since it was founded in 2015. Thanks to the increasing Digitization in the corona crisis the offer is more in demand than ever.

All-round service improved through digitization

More than 4,000 dealers are connected to the online marketplace, who buy and sell cars among themselves. Every year, up to 15,000 dealer, fleet and export vehicles as well as leasing returns change hands on the platform. The digital offer is in tune with the times – with one user-friendly user interface for buyers and sellers, a transparent purchase process and a complete digital offer from the creation of vehicle advertisements to sales and debt collection.

“Anyone who buys or sells a car from us benefits from an all-round service. Our employees examine the used vehicles, look after the vehicle inventory on site at the seller and, if desired, place individual advertisements on the auction platform ”, explains Rick Cebulla, Managing Director of pkwNOW. A service made possible by digitization. pkwNOW used the growth-related move to new premises to reorganize the telephony solutions. In addition, the employees in the field should be connected to the telephone system in Lüdenscheid. A special request from company founder Cebulla: All employees should receive mobile devices from Apple.

Telekom telephone system from the cloud

“In addition to a new, cost-effective telephony solution, we also had to rely on the expansion of the high-speed network with broadband Internet access,” reports Cebulla, who opposed the existing FRITZ! Box and old telephone devices Telekom Cloud PBX exchanged. The pkwNOW IT team now uses the cloud-based telephone system from Telekom Deutschland to manage and implement all workstations and users – from landline telephones in the office to the mobile devices of the field staff.

“Our colleagues in the field can now access our servers on the go. This means that communication between back office and field staff works smoothly, ”explains Cebulla. Via the scalable platform of the Cloud PBX, the field staff and the employees in the home office are also connected to the telephone system and make calls with Lüdenscheid number.

Digitization: leasing offer for Apple devices

For the Apple hardware, the managing director of Digital X discovered a possibility that saved him the costly purchase of an iPhone and iPad: he opted for Telekom’s leasing offer. “It’s worth it, because we forego major investments and have a price advantage of around 30 percent over the new purchase price over the lease term.” Cebulla is fully convinced of the devices: “Apple products are not only stylish and user-friendly. They also impress with their reliable and long-term operability and are also very virus-resistant. ”

The company’s founder simply orders new devices via his personal account from Telekom. He then creates the offer and executes the order. “We really appreciate this service. We don’t just get everything from a single source. Our contacts at Telekom also handle the procurement of new Apple devices for us, ”continued Cebulla.

IT team benefits from simplified administration

With the leasing model, pkwNOW not only benefits from lower rates. The three-person IT team saves a lot of time through the uniform administration of all telephones and Apple devices. Using Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Apple Device Management, all Apple office hardware can be integrated into the company network and controlled centrally.

For pkwNOW, all of this was just the beginning of further investments in mobile and flexible working. Microsoft 365, for example, will soon replace the Dropbox that has been used so far. The company hopes that this will result in better synchronization and centralized management of the internal and external service data. PkwNOW benefits from a GDPR-compliant storage and backup of its data and an automated backup function. Another advantage: With Microsoft 365, human and financial resources can be reduced, as pkwNOW no longer has to maintain its own server.

Cebulla explains the further plans: “We also want to drive in the fast lane in European competition. That is why we are expanding our current offer for car dealers to include EU-wide trade in used vehicles. ”PkwNOW intends to expand the B2B offer for dealers to include a C2B offer for the purchase of private cars.
