The production of the Xbox Series X has started in China. Ina Gelbert did that in Interview with the French website Xboxygen confirmed – Gelbert is the manager at Microsoft responsible for the French market. According to her, the console will be available in more countries to launch than was the case with Xbox One in 2013.
The One started in 13 countries at the same time, including the USA, Germany, France and Austria. Players in Switzerland, the Netherlands and Russia had to wait until 2014 – in some markets until September 2014.
According to Gelbert, France will be one of the countries where the Xbox Series X will be available from the start. The corresponding quotas have been secured, said the manager. However, plans could still change in the short term if containment was necessary again due to the corona crisis.
Gelbert does not comment on other markets. However, it is almost certain that the console is also available in Germany. The exact date is not yet available. Sony has already said that the Playstation 5 will be available at the same time everywhere worldwide. However, this probably only means the common main markets – it would be a surprise if the PS5 is also immediately available in China.
At the beginning of May 2020, AMD, as a key supplier to the Xbox Series X and Playstation 5, said that the production of the required processors would be ramped up to "Support the Christmas launches of the new Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles."
The Microsoft and Sony consoles were created together with AMD. Both the Xbox Series X and the Playstation 5 use a System-on-a-Chip (SoC) with a CPU based on Zen-2 and with a graphics unit based on RDNA2.
