In the name of this team, named "Digital Investment Banking" the bank's blockchain officer John Whelan .
After leaving the R3 consortium in 2016, Santander drew his own roadmap on the Blockchain research and started to apply it.
Santander's vice president and corporate banking Jose M. Linares stated in his press release that digitalization in the financial sector has been in a major increase in recent times:
