According to the annual report released by the SPRI Turkey arms trade, arms sales 2014-2018 period increased 170 percent compared to the period 2009-2013. In the same period, the arms market in the world grew by 7.8%.
In the global arms transfer report announced by Stockholm Institute of Peace Treaties SIPRI, arms trade in recent years has been examined. Arms trade increased by 7.8 percent between the years 2014-2018. The top five countries that exported the most weapons were the US, Russia, France, Germany and China, respectively. The report drew attention to Turkey and South Korea's breakthrough in this area. South Korea 94%, while Turkey was increased 170% increase in arms exports significantly. Turkey was the number one customer of the United Arab Emirates. Exports to UAE account for 30% of total exports. Saudi Arabia is followed by Turkmenistan with 23% and Saudi Arabia with 10%.
Saudi Arabia, India, Egypt, Australia and Algeria were the five countries that imported the most weapons. Turkey, weapons imports decreased 21% during the period 2014-2018. Turkey directed against the indigenous arms industry, was ranked 13th on the list.  RELATED NEWS
